One gal's journey from fat to fit

10 notes &

Last training run before Saturday’s 10k.

Uncle Hal said to do only 2 miles….geez it’s so weird to say “only.” I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to that.

I ran a simple out and back through the park by my house and made sure I killed the hills!

Afterwards I met a friend/colleague at the Y to take a Zumba class. She’s getting back into working out and when she texted me to see if I wanted to go, there was no way I could say no. I’ve been so lucky to have so many people encourage and support me, that I have to pay it forward.

The only thing I’m not looking forward to is missing half of the man-child’s baseball game on Saturday. The race starts at 9, so when I signed up I knew I could make it to his game, which starts at 11. Well, just got an email and they moved the game up to 10. Even if I could run a 10k in less than an hour, I would miss part of his game. It’s a good thing that he supports what mom is doing. He even gives me high fives every time I increase my mileage.

I’m a very lucky mom.

Tomorrow I pick up my race packet. Yeah, I’m one of those people. I can’t stroll in the morning of and just pick it up. Everything has to be ready the night before.

Be prepared for insecure/frantic posts about my running ability in the next 32 hours. This is a milestone for me and I’m nervous/petrified. I know I can do it as I just ran 6 last Saturday. I just don’t want to come in dead last like I did in my first 5k…..momma’s got a game to get to!
