LM2013 W2D1

Done! Rest days are the best!

School started back up today, so a rest day was needed. I love the start of a new semester, but the first day always takes a lot out of you.

I actually came home and had the energy to do some house work though! Score 1 for working out and gaining more energy!

The man friend also came over to hang out and watch a movie. We both fell asleep watching it. Go figure. I felt bad waking him up though to tell him he had to leave so I could go to bed. He looked at me weird and then the light bulb went off when he remembered that I had to get up early to go run.

He told me to have a great run as he was hugging me goodbye just before he walked out the door.

I’m glad he understands and is supportive of my training.

Now I sleep and hope that I wake up early enough to go run.

LM2013 W1D5

Rest day! Rest day! REST DAY!!!!!!

And I’m taking full advantage of it!

I also went back to work today from our two week break. I get a whole new batch of kiddos on Monday.

Tomorrow is a 6 mile run. I haven’t ran that far since August. I foresee lots of walking tomorrow and I’m more than fine with that!

I also got to spend some much deserved, and needed, quality time with the man-friend last night. He was incredibly attentive and sweet.

Now I rest some more and catch up on my DVR! Oh and there will probably be dishes washed at some point tonight as well.

I really live a crazy and exciting life you guys. No really. I know you’re all incredibly jelly. I know I would be if I were you!

LM2013 W1D4

Is done and in the books! It fucking sucked! Have I mentioned how much I HATE treadmill running?

2.72 miles in 35 minutes (stupid Y 30 minute limit!). That’s a 12:52 pace folks.

I walked WAY too much on this one. It just seems like it’s easier for me to walk when I’m running on the treadmill. When I run outside I set little goals for myself. You know like “just sprit to that tree,” “keep running to the next street light,” “make it up the hill and then you can slow down.”

That always works for me and keeps my mind occupied for the run.

I just find myself getting incredibly BORED on the treadmill.

Saturday is my first long run since August. Uncle Hal calls for 6 miles, and 6 miles I’m going to do…..OUTSIDE! I’ll probably have to wait until the sun comes out since I’m such a cold weather weenie.

Tomorrow I rest! Oh and I go back to educating young minds after having a much needed, and well deserved, winter break.

LM2013 W1D3:

Training schedule called for 3 miles of running. 

Well I did 3 miles on my jankity ass elliptical in my crappy basement. You can see it behind me. 

Seriously it was awful. It swayed and squeaked the entire time. THE ENTIRE TIME!

I thought it was going to fall apart on me!

Needless to say 3 miles were completed in 37:15 for a pace of 12:25ish. 

Now I go ice the knee. Darn you bursitis!

LMT W1D2

Well day 1 was a rest day (thank you uncle Hal!) and rest I did

Today marked the official kick off of training for the Lincoln Marathon.

I showed up at the Y and hit the treadmill. My local Y only lets you use the treadmill for 35 minutes and that’s fine with me for now that I have to do 3 mile runs. I won’t be doing my long runs on the treadmill and already have routes mapped out for those. So there it is. My main goal for 2013, to run my first marathon, is off to a good start.

Oh and the foot felt okay. I did walk some, not as much as the other day, yet more than I wanted to, but that’s okay. I’m learning to be alright with walking during a run if I have to.

Time: 35:00
Pace: 12:52

Okay so I’m leaving the Y at 7:30 and it’s still dark and it’s snowing…..yuck! 

Have I mentioned how I live in Nebraska and I really can’t stand the winters here?

Anyway first run in over 3 months is done!

2.00 in 26:19 for a 13:09 pace. 

There was LOTS of walking….like ridiculous amounts of walking, but that’s okay. I’m giving myself permission to walk when I want to. 

Marathon training officially begins on Monday with a rest day….woohoo! Although I’m thinking of doing a midnight 5k to ring in the New Year. 

There is only one thing that worries me about marathon training and that is the fact that there are a few “longish” runs that occur on Wednesdays. Wednesdays are grad class night for me. I’m just trying to figure out how the heck I’m going to get a 10 mile run done in the middle of week 15. Has me kind of scared. 

Any how, back to your regular scheduled programming. Be prepared to be spammed with my training logs!
